Giant tissue paper flowers are one of those DIY projects that can be translated to fit almost any theme and colour scheme and when you group together a collection of tissue paper flowers they can make a huge impact. Use them to create photo backdrops at weddings, celebrations and pop up markets.

It really doesn't matter if your flowers look like a specific type of flower. Use our templates and diy instructions as a guideline. Tissue paper and sizzle are available in many different colours so go ahead and just have fun.

Here's the supplies we used to create our giant tissue paper flowers: tissue paper, sizzle, natural excelsior, twist ties, cardstock, scissors and our petal templates.

Let's make a "sunflower" (or a flower with pointed petals):

diy giant tissue paper flowers | Creative Bag

Cut the tissue paper petals using the sunflower template in the quantities indicated.

Scrunch the flat ends of the tissue paper to create the petal shapes.

We suggest cutting a piece of cardstock cut into a circular shape so that it can be use it as a base to form the flower and afterwards for hanging purposes.

Create the first layer of  your flower by gluing the petals to the cardstock as shown below ...

Once the first layer is complete repeat with the remaining larger petals to create a second layer ...

Now that you have the hang of it, add two more layers of petals using the smaller petals ...

Once the petals are all set, glue a scrunched up ball of sizzle to the centre of the flower.

You can also create flowers with a more rounded petal shape using our other flower petal templates.

Cut the number of petals as indicated on the template and then follow the general directions for scrunching the tissue into petals and gluing the petals onto a cardstock base ...

We added a few layers of contrasting tissue paper (circles that were scrunched to give them a little texture) and then added natural excelsior to the centre of this flower.

Giant flowers take up a lot of space and you will find that you do not have to make many of them if you are trying to create a large backdrop. Try to vary the size of the flowers a bit so that you will have some that are a little bit smaller to fill in the spaces between the flowers.

One Wishing Well and Four (Creative) Ways to Use It

Monday, 30 April 2018

one wishing well and four creative ways to use it | creativebag.com
Our popular phantom acrylic wishing wells are clearly something that can be used over and over again whether you are a wedding/party planner, prop rental business, small business owner or just someone who likes to do a lot of entertaining.

Follow along and we'll show you four inspiring reasons to add one of these to your shopping cart!

The simple phantom wishing well box is the perfect balance of form and function. With a little bit of creativity and supplies like water based paint markers, cling vinyl, ribbon and papers, you can make it your own.

Every wedding needs a wishing well for guests to place their gift cards and well wishes. Doris Wai from Love Lettering added the beautiful hand lettered "Best Day Ever" message and floral illustrations using waterbased Sharpie paint pens. The floral details matched the floral design on the wedding invitations and was the perfect way to make this simple acrylic box co-ordinate with the wedding decor.
After the wedding, remove the graphics using a soft cloth and water and store the wishing well in a safe place until your next event. Like maybe a baby shower?

Baby and bridal showers are two more occasions that a wishing well comes in handy. This time Doris Wai added instructions for a party game using water based paint markers. We also added a black and white striped ribbon to the lid of the box to match our black and white party decor.

After the shower, wash off the lettering using a soft cloth and water, remove the ribbon and store until your next celebration.

If you thought that a wishing well could only be used to collect gift cards then think again.

For this first birthday celebration the phantom wishing well was used as a cake riser for a custom designed rocket ship cake. Doris Wai added the lettering and "blast off" flames using water based paints to give the cake presentation a little extra pow!

Tip: Use a cake pad that is a little larger than the cake so that it completely covers the slot on the top of the wishing well and protects the acrylic surface from getting scratched.

Are you a small (medium or large) business that takes part in tradeshows or has a brick and mortar store location?  The phantom wishing well is a great way to collect contest ballots and email addresses for mailing lists. You can add your logo to the box using cling vinyl or hand lettering using water based Sharpie paint markers. Make your branding complete by adding a sheet of patterned paper or a photo to the back (inside) of the box and keep it in place using glue dots.

Our customers really like to plan amazing parties. And whether you are a professional party planner or someone who just like to host fun birthday parties for your children, we have everything that you need to get the party started.

Check out this adorable "fly to the moon" themed party that was pulled together by Janet Kwan from Janet Kwan Photography for her nephew's first birthday.

Janet had a little help from some of her creative friends with a number of the party details. I personally had fun creating a few of the diy projects for the party using some of our products. These "rocket fuel" milk bottles were created using swing top bottles, silver corregated paper "wings" and custom printed labels.

You may remember seeing the phantom acrylic wish well in this wedding post or this baby shower post. We think that this is one of the most imaginative uses for this popular acyclic box and proof that it can be used for more than just a wishing well at a wedding. The box was embellished by Doris using water based paint and used as a riser for the amazing custom birthday cake.

Here we glued pom poms to paper bags to look like bunny tails and added tissue paper to look like bunny ears.

The tissue paper "ears" were simply two pieces of tissue paper tied with baker's twine to hold their shape. A white tissue paper pom pom was added to the bag first and the tissue paper ears were placed on each side to finish.
Note: you can find a tutorial for making tissue paper pom poms in this post.

Hand made pom poms were added to these muslin drawstring fabric bags. The bunny and chick themed pom poms make these plain bags party ready for an Easter celebration. If you are going to add candies or edible products to the bags you will want to package the food products in clear candy bags first.

Planning an Easter egg hunt? Send the kids (and adults) off on the hunt using these burlap tote bags that have been embellished with pom poms and a little embroidery floss. The pom poms were sewn onto the burlap tote bags so they would stay in place.

Easter is just a couple of weeks away .... we hope that some of these ideas will inspire you to take your holiday gift wrapping to the next level.
