Edible gift toppers are a sweet and easy way to dress up your gift wrapping. We teamed up with Bake Sale Toronto to decorate some of our gift bags and boxes using their holiday baked goods and our everyday bakery packaging.

Here's a few more ideas for creating edible gift toppers using macarons and bakery boxes.
Now onto the DIY details so that you can recreate these yourself!
You can turn any of our bakery boxes into hanging gift toppers (or ornaments!) by simply punching a hole on two sides ....
Supplies: bakery boxes, hole punch, baker's twine, scissors
Step 1. Punch a hole into two sides and flaps of the box.
Step 2. Close the flaps on the top of the box and add the baker's twine as shown.
Tip: A twist tie was attached to the baker's twine to make it easier to pull the twine through the holes.
Step 3. Tie a knot close to the top of the box. Make sure that you leave yourself enough twine to be able to tie onto the handles of the gift bag and finish with a bow
If you want to add a hand lettered message to bakery boxes with windows do it while the boxes are flat. Once you have completed the lettering you can punch the holes and start to fold and set up the boxes.
Tip: We used white Sharpie paint markers on the windows of the bakery boxes.
Here's how we attached small bakery boxes to gift boxes using just ribbon.
This technique will work with any folding box when the top and bottom flats are on the same side of the box.
1. Simply feed a ribbon through the bakery box when the top and bottom flaps are open.
2. Close the flap on one end of the bakery box and continue to tie the ribbon onto the gift box. Note: At this point you should be able to slide the bakery box along the ribbon to position it on top of the gift box.
3. Slip a macaron into the open end of the bakery box and close the flap to finish.
The technique above will not work for our scallop window cookie boxes so here's what we did ...
1. Use an Xacto knife to cut a slit a little wider than your ribbon into the bottom flap as shown above.
2. Feed the ribbon through the bakery box while the top and bottom flaps are open.
3. Tie the ribbon/bakery box onto the top of a gift box.
4. We covered a piece of cardboard with buffalo plaid wrapping paper and inserted it into the bakery box to give the Bake Sale Toronto's ugly sweater cookie a festive backdrop inside the cookie box.It also make it easier to slide the cookie into the gift box and hid the ribbon.
5. Close the flap to finish. You can easily position the bakery box on the gift box by gently sliding it along the ribbon.
