If you are planning to create a advent calendar to count down the holidays, November is the month to start planning and get your diy on.

We were very excited to see what blogger Jennifer Flores from Rambling Renovations created using our cotton drawstring bags. You can see it in Style at Home November 2015 magazine.

Jennifer's refined rustic room was so beautiful - contemporary with lots of natural details. The fabric bags hanging on the mantle make such a great focal point and make a beautiful holiday decorating detail even if you don't have small children. In our last post I talked about how easy it is to add a little holiday spirit to your brand story by using holiday gift packaging that compliments your product packaging. Here's some of my suggestions: go that extra step and package customer purchases in holiday bags and boxes so they are gift ready, frame holiday wrapping paper like art to use as part of your holiday instore decor and online marketing photography, add holiday bags and boxes in your windows and instore displays, attach co-ordinating ribbons to just about anything!

In this post I'm going to focus on our "1961" holiday gift wrapping collection. This retro inspired collection is a little more whimsical and colourful so I went back to our Pinterest boards to give you some examples of product packaging and branding that I think would partner well with "1961".

At Creative Bag we love creative packaging and great branding. So it makes sense that we are always on the look out for great packaging and branding ideas to add to our Pinterest boards. I took a look through our Creative Branding Ideas boards to see if I could find examples of great branding and beautiful packaging that would co-ordinate with our three holiday gift wrapping programs.

This first post is all about kraft, black and gold foil packaging.

Creative Pinspiration to do with the kids (vol 2)

In my last post I gave you some project ideas that you can do with the kids using our everyday products and inspiration from our Pinterest boards. Here's a few more ideas to inspire you using paper lanterns, clothespins, ribbon, baker's twine, lace and iron on transfers.

Paper lanterns are not just for weddings and parties, let the kids decorate their bedrooms with paper lanterns that they have decorated with paint, tissue paper, decorative paper napkins or fabric pieces.

Clothespins are available in a variety of different sizes and colours. Let the kids decorate inexpensive clothespins with paint, markers, glitter tape and more. Embellished clothespins on paper bags are a wonderful idea for a child's birthday party favor.

Make an entrance with a ribbon curtain on a door. This project takes me back to a time when I was a teenager and I begged my Mom to take the door off my bedroom closet so I could hang a funky beaded curtain in it's place.

A great way to use up ribbon and lace scraps is to create these adorable heart shaped sun catchers.

Baker's twine can be braided or used with leather and felt scraps to create funky bracelets.

String art can be created using any kind of string but I think that baker's twine would give this 1960's craft technique a modern twist. This is a great string art idea for the kids - spell out their names on long pieces of wood and hang the finished art in their bedrooms.

What little girl doesn't dream of being a princess? Make princess crowns using crochet lace ribbon or lace ribbon and fabric stiffener. You can add metallic paint, glitter and rhinestones afterwards if you want the crowns to sparkle.

Older fashionistas might like to decorate their denim shorts with lace or crochet lace ribbon. Sew the lace ribbon on by hand or give older kids a lesson on how to use the sewing machine with this basic sewing project.

Use iron on transfers on scraps of fabric or napkins and frame them in embroidery hoops. You can teach older children a few basic embroidery stitches and create a unique piece of art. Younger children can embellish the iron on transfer design using fabric markers and glitter glue instead of using needles and thread!

October is not that far away and if your child is into superhero these tee shirts are a fun idea for now and they can be reused later for Halloween! The project pin will take you to a website with the artwork for the superhero icons to use with our iron on transfers.

Note: Iron on transfers require adult supervision during the ironing stage.

Summer is almost over and the beginning of a new year of school is just around the corner. If you are getting tired of hearing the kids say "there's nothing to do", why not take advantage of the last few weeks of summer and let them create something fun using some of our everydayproducts.

I've been pinning a number of creative ideas to do with the kids on our Pinterest boards lately. Here's some of my favourites along with the links to the projects.

Who knew you could do so many creative things with tissue paper and mason jars?!

Paper straws are not just for drinking. String paper straw "beads" onto baker's twine

to create jewellery for younger children or a garland to hang artwork and pictures for a child's bedroom.

Gable boxes are not just for baked goods! Love how these ones were decorated and used as activity boxes for kids.

And you've gotta love this simple idea using plain wrapping paper. Use white or kraft wrapping paper with crayons and markers. This idea would be also be adorable using

kraft paper gift wrapping inspiration | Lorrie Everitt for Creative Bag

I'm feeling a little inspired today by both Pinterest and one of my favourite holiday songs from the movie "The Sound of Music". I remember learning the words to this song as a little girl to sing at a school Christmas concert and it always makes me feel happy when I hear it. I have been pinning a number of "brown (kraft) paper packages" on our Christmas boards lately ... I never seem to get tired of seeing all of the new packaging ideas that people come up with using kraft packaging products like the ones we stock.

They add a natural element to vintage, rustic, shabby chic and modern wedding and party decor. Burlap and linen can be used in so many ways ... use them as they are, layer them with other fabrics or embellish them with ribbons, lace, stencils, stamps or iron on transfers.

And if you are using burlap or linen fabric on you tables or at your serving stations, you will want to use our burlap or linen bags for favors. You can even use these bags as an interesting detail to package your invitations.
