Inspiration: boho wedding part three

wedding inspiration: boho wedding reception details including a number of diy ideas | Creative Bag

When planning a wedding or party it is often the tiny details that end up being the most remembered part of the day. In this last post about our boho inspired wedding, we are going to share what we consider the most memorable details from our inspirational styled shoot.

wedding inspiration: photo booth from boho wedding reception | Creative Bag

1. Make them smile.

This stunning stand alone 8'x8' handmade paper flower backdrop created by Confetti and Bows just makes you want to smile.

A single chair, a hand lettered sign and a few photo props set off to one side of the floral backdrop invite guests to hang out and snap a few photos. The hand lettering on the mirror and the sweet Posecards were by Love Lettering. A couple of flasks and mini paper flowers make fun photo props as well.

2. Best favours ever.

If you have the time, what could be more personal than creating or wrapping your wedding favours yourself?

You can find the DIY tutorial for these mini mason jar favours in this post

Simple (and inexpensive) white gift boxes look amazing when you place real, silk or paper flowers on top. Keep the flowers in place using satin ribbon. Alicia's Infinity designed the custom sticker to match her wedding stationery.

3. Family matters.

We added personal touches to the gift table by displaying "something old (photo of the groom's grandparents), something new (acrylic wishing well), something borrowed (vintage cake topper from bride's grandparents) and something blue (ribbon tied around the photo)". The acrylic wishing well was personalized by Doris from Love Lettering with a hand lettered message and floral design.

4. Add a little gold.

The white hobnail vases were given a modern boho "dipped in gold" effect by masking off the bottom of each vase with torn edge painters tape before spraying on the gold metallic paint. Periwinkle Flowers was inspired by the watercolour flowers, succulents and foliage in the wedding invitations.

Gold was added to the "best day ever" cake topper on the wedding cake. You can find the DIY tutorial for how to add the gold in this post.

We placed gold and white paper lanterns, watermelon round paper lanterns, balloons, and tissue & mylar tassels around the venue to highlight the different stations at the reception.

DIY favour inspiration using linen drawstring bags

Friday, 7 April 2017

diy favours using fabric bags | Creative Bag

Drawstring bags are a great option for favour packaging and they are available in many different sizes and fabrications.

These linen bags are like blank canvases just waiting for you to make them your own.

Here's nine DIY ideas to get you started:

One. Silk Flowers and Decorative Brads. This silk flower was pulled apart and put back together again using a decorative rhinestone brad. The brad was also used to attach the silk flower to the bag.

Two. Stamp and Paint. Stamp a design using permanent ink. I added a colour detail to this stamped image using a little paint and a puffy gloss sealer.

Three. Buttons. Use purchased buttons or pins. Make your own chalkboard button by spraying old buttons with chalkboard paint. Add hand lettered details using chalkboard markers.

Four. Glitter Paint. Add a heart using gold glitter paint. Use a stencil if you are making a lot of these.

Five. Rhinestone Buckles and Ribbon. Sew on the buckle and add a colour of pop with ribbon.

Six. Fabric Petals and Buttons. Layer different colours and textures of fabric for a bit of whimsy.

Seven. Hand Lettering and a Resin Pin. Use a fine tip permanent marker to hand letter words or a name. The resin flower pin and felt leaf were added for a pop of colour.

Eight. Iron On Transfer. Create your own or search Pinterest for designs to download and use as art for iron on transfers.

Nine. Dye and Buttons. Use food colouring and water to create your own fabric dye. Create an ombre look on the bags by adding more dye to achieve the look. Sew on a button to hold a gift tag.

Making the holidays a little sweeter with holiday cake toppers

holiday cake and cupcake toppers | creativebag.com

I'm so excited about our new and exclusive holiday cake and cupcake toppers. There are two cake toppers and three cupcake topper and they are all laser cut from birch wood. They are a fun way to add a little holiday spirit to your baked goods and holiday entertaining decor.

I added our "Joy" cake topper to a store bought cake that I embellished with candies and assorted baked goods.

Cake toppers are not just for cakes! Take for example our "merry and bright" cake topper on this mini apple crumble pie.

And our cupcake toppers are adorable on mini pies! The "star" cupcake topper and the "merry and bright" cake topper co-ordinate with our Cameron holiday collection.

Our cupcake toppers are available in three different designs - star, tree and deer.

sweet winter wedding favour | creativebag.com

Planning a winter wedding or party? Here's a fun favour idea using our cupcake toppers and domed glass bell jars. I placed a star cupcake topper into a raspberry marshmallow created by Caitlin Elaine of Cakelaine. Doris Wai from Love Lettering added her hand lettering on the domed glass favours for a personal touch.

If you are getting married soon, don't forget that we sell a large variety of wedding cake toppers. Like this "best day ever" cake topper that I embellished with a gold leaf pen. You can find my diy tutorial to do this here.
