Oh hoppy day! Sweet hostess gift wrapping inspiration using cake pop boxes and hand lettering | Creative Bag

Looking for a fun way to package chocolates and baked goods as hostess gifts? Check out our cake pop boxes! They're not just for cake pops.

We simply added an Easter message to the box by adding "faux" hand lettering using a Sharpie paint marker. The ribbon is actually our plain white 1 1/2" satin ribbon that was coloured using watercolour paints.

Keep reading for the DIY instructions for adding hand lettering to the window of this box.

We added small chocolate bunnies and cookies from Christy's Gourmet Gifts to this cake pop box as a hostess gift idea. Green sizzle was added to the inside of the box to keep the chocolates and cookies in place and to add a pop of colour to the presentation.

Flower Treasures spray painted baby's breath in colours to match the watercolour ribbon.

The cake pop box also makes a great container to carry large chocolate Easter eggs. The sizzle keeps the egg from rolling around and covers the holes in the cake pop base.

Note: The cake pop box is sold in two parts. The lid makes it easier to transport cake pops on the base and is sold as an add on. Both are available in white and kraft.

Here's how you can recreate the "hoppy day" hand lettering on the cake pop box window:

  1. Download the printable template.
  2. Print the template "size as is" to fit the box window.
  3. Cut the lettering out and centre it inside of the box as shown above. Use painter's tape to hold the lettering in place.
  4. Using a white Sharpie paint marker, trace the lettering on the outside of the window.

You can also use the "hoppy day" template to add faux letter on glass containers.
Use the same white Sharpie paint markers on glass so you can remove the lettering later using water and a paper towel.

Homemade Gifts in a Jar

homemade gifts in jars | creativebag.com

We collaborated with blogger Nicole from Simply Nic Nutrition to create a number of handmade holiday gift giving ideas. Nicole created all of the homemade gifts and packaged them using our glassware, ribbons, twine, holiday stickers and gift tags.

Who doesn't like freshly baked cookies? Give the joy of baking with this Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Oat Balls holiday gift jar. Nicole shares her recipe for the dry ingredients on her blog and the gift tag download contains the instructions for how to make the cookies. You can package the cookie mix in 16oz mason jars for this project but we liked the idea of using a mug. Did you know that we have custom printed mason jar mugs online?

Featured Products: mason jar mug, baker's twine, moose & buffalo plaid stickers are available in store only.

Nicole shares her simple recipe for making a healthy holiday jello using cranberry juice and gelatin. The jello was packaged in 4oz quilted crystal jars and decorated with stickers and burlap ribbon. We think that these would be perfect  for holiday entertaining and would look wonderful stack up for guests to serve themselves.

Make your own apple cider using this recipe and package it in tall swing top glass bottles. These glass bottles make great single serving containers. Perfect for holiday entertaining, just add straws and let guests serve themselves.

Gifts in a jar don't all have to be something edible. We love this peppermint hand salve holiday gift idea. Swing top jars or mason jars can be used to package the hand salve.

gift box packaging inspiration for holiday gift giving | creativebag.com

Holiday gift boxes are wonderful to receive and are so simple to personalize for everyone on your list. Don't over think how to make your gift boxes look beautiful. Use any of our gift boxes to package a collection of holiday gift items and embellish them with a few items like ribbon, gift tags and mini wreaths.

Here's how we were able to add a wreath to one of our gift boxes using ribbon:

Gather your supplies: gift box, mini wreath, ribbon and a gift tag*
* we used the "hugs, kisses & merry wishes" coaster as a gift tag
Step 1: Loop the ribbon around one side of the wreath as shown above.
Step 2: Centre the wreath on the top of the box and wrap both ends of the ribbon around bottom of the box.
Step 3: Pull one end of the ribbon up and around to loop around the wreath as shown in the centre photo.
Step 4: Keep the wreath and ribbon in place by tying a knot. Finish with a bow and trim the ribbon tails to complete.
Step 5: Tuck a round coaster in the centre of the wreath to use as a gift tag.
Note - You can use this same technique using a wreath and ribbon on square and rectangular gift boxes

With a little help from our sweet customers, here's some inspiration for what to put inside your holiday gift boxes ...

Modern Wilderness Baby Shower: Let's Wrap It Up

Tuesday, 15 August 2017

modern wilderness baby shower | creativebag.com

Welcome back to our styled baby shower. If you missed the first two posts, you can get all of the details about our sweet table here and party details here. Today we are going to share some inspiration about the baby gifts.

The baby shower was based on the idea that guests would bring gifts to help the Mama-to-be decorate a modern wilderness theme nursery. Many of  the gifts were wrapped up but we also took advantage of using some of the gift items as party decor. A win-win for everyone and a great way to keep the party budget under control.

The black and white striped tent will make a great play space when baby is older and for the party it was the idea place to tell guests to leave their gifts.

Find it here: tent, paper lanterns, balloons

Wrapping gifts is a breeze when you add bands of wrapping paper and  beautiful ribbons on gift boxes. The gift boxes can be used after the party to store keepsakes and photos.

Use smaller gift items like silcone teethers and handmade items like this sweet panda bear to your gifts as gift toppers.

pretty gift packaging for your bridemaids | Creative Bag

David Tutera's mini milk glass bottles with cork tops have been a popular item this year for packaging wedding and party favors. Today I'm going to share with you an idea for using these mini bottles to package earrings for your bridesmaids. I've seen so many adorable handmade earrings on Etsy for bridesmaids and I thought that it would be nice to gift wrap them in a unique way to co-ordinate with your wedding theme.

pretty gift packaging for your bridemaids | Creative Bag

I purchased the smallest screw eyes that I could find at the hardware store and screwed two of them into the cork top as shown above. All you have to do is attach the earrings and place the lid on the bottle. Pretty easy - right?

Of course, this packaging idea will not work with stuns or earrings that are very long or really wide so make sure your earrings will fit inside the bottle before going on to the next step.

I selected four different wedding themes and decorated the bottles to co-ordinate.

pretty gift packaging for your bridemaids | Creative Bag

For a boho inspired wedding - what could be prettier than lace ribbon, a mini gift tag and gold spray painted bottles? I used Krylon's 18kt gold plate spray paint on this bottle.

Note: use painter's tape to protect the area of glass you don't want to paint and remove the tape immediately after spraying so that the paint does not dry on the tape.

Put a little sparkle to your gift packaging by adding craft glitter. Use baker's twine to add the metal rimmed tag to the bottle.

Mini terrariums are so popular right now and if you have included a lot of natural elements to your wedding this gift packaging idea may be perfect for you. I added a little bit of moss to the bottom of this bottle to look like a terrarium. I painted a mini white gift tag with watercolour paint and attached it to the bottle using a wired ribbon

Here's a cute idea for a destination wedding - the earrings where made using old maps and I added tiny heart candies to this bottle. A mini kraft tag in the shape of a luggage tag is attached to the bottle using natural twine.

For a destination wedding on the beach, you could use sand, sea glass or mini shells instead of heart candies.

I've been experimenting with the Krylon gold spray paints on some of our other glass containers. Here's a sneak peek at some of my favourites ... so far.
